I make decorative wind spinners for the garden using sheet metal.
How to smooth sheet metal edges.
There has to be an easier cheaper way.
Secure the sheet metal to prevent slipping.
Run the mounted point over the other sides to break those sharp.
Use a die grinder with the mounted point and simply run the point over the edge of the sheet metal.
No pictures sorry.
Step 1 secure the sheet metal to prevent slipping.
Use the 220 grit sandpaper and begin to smooth the edges of the metal using light strokes.
Step 2 use your die grinder with a mounted point we like shape w222 and simply run the point over the edge of the sheet metal.
W222 mounted point a54gfx nc part no.
This process will round the edge of the metal and create a groove in the point.
Is there a small tool to bend the edges flatten down.
I ve used brass tape on the curved edges to cover.
Use a polishing pad once the metal is smooth to remove any metal dust and bring out the shine of the metal.
Thanx for any help.
As the rough edges are removed switch to finer grit sandpaper.
Step 3 repeat.
