Use a color that matches the door or the trim in your home. A backer board is only required if you don t have this much space available see steps 3 5 below. Use the drywall anchors spacers and lag bolts to secure the mounting board. In this project the mounting board was painted black and the edges rounded slightly for a more finished appearance.
